Context

Standish Communications was commissioned by CIME to create a playful and inclusive campaign aimed at raising awareness of discrimination. They needed a motion design partner capable of delivering animations aligned with CIME’s mission.

CIME, a non-profit organization, works to help women integrate into the workforce. The campaign, in partnership with CNESST, was launched on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.

My Role

4 Animated Capsules (15 sec each):

  • Full animation
  • Storyboards and illustrations (except the first one)
  • Music and sound effects
  • Delivered in both horizontal (1920×1080)
    and vertical (1080×1920) formats
  • Collaboration:
Worked closely with the Art Director to ensure project consistency.

Production Phases

  1. I was provided with the first storyboard, as well as graphic elements (fonts, logos, texts).
“We’re looking for a stop-motion style for the animation.”
  2. The first capsule was animated in landscape format with audio for validation.
  3. After approval, I completed the remaining three illustration & animations.
  4. Once the horizontal versions were approved, the capsules were adapted to vertical formats, and final delivery was made.

Thanks to the first storyboard and color palette, I designed the remaining characters and storyboards, keeping in line with the original style.

for a minimalist character

*No plugins were used for the rigging,
only “Layer Parenting” and nulls to control the eyes.

‘’Time saver’’ tool

  • Custom Text Animator presets
  • Scratchy texture with easy color changes
  • Layer adjustments for a frame-by-frame effect
  • Using Jake Bartlett’s chunky grain presets
